According to a recent comScore report, Indians search 53 times per searcher ,while the world average is 93.
Even with 2 bn searches in June ,India forms less than 2 % of the worlds search queries. This market is clearly lead by Google with 81% of the searches ,Rediff is a distant fifth with 1.5 % of the searches.

Size of Online Banners advertising Rs.350 mn & SEM $ 225 mn:IAMAI
The IAMAI-IMRB report on online banner advertising the market would grow to reach Rs. 350 mn in 088-09 ,from Rs. 235 mn in 07-08 .
The share of BFSI ,Online Industry and IT and Telecom players is being pegged at 26% ,23% and 13 % respectively in 08-09.The other major categories are FMCG ,Consumer Durables and auto.Education category is stated to show the fastest growth from 4% to 7%.
The report also states that the online banner ad spend is $ 1.20 ,which is $ 188 in U.K. and $143 for U.S. The report also reveals that 70% of the users clicked on these ads but what is concerning is that 65 % of the users said that the online ad was less likely to make them purchase.47% of the users also said that they feel online ads have misleading information .I think the above is an alarming situation and steps need to be taken soon to counter these negative attitudes. Reliance Entertainment plans new channels and websites in a BIG way
Reliance Entertainment plans to launch two separate companies Big Tv News and Big Tv Entertainment.to set up around 20 channels and 8 websites including Jobs and Classified portal.
The company already owns gaming portal Zapak ,social networking site BigAdda and online movie download and rental site BigFlicks.
Expedia in India
After setting up the Indian office in 2007 ,Expedia has officially launched www.expedia.co.in.
At the moment Expedia will target consumers looking to travel abroad (OBT) ,has hotel and package booking on the site presently and soon will have flight and car booking facility as well.
This adds another player to the already crowded online travel sector in India ,which is set to reach $2bn in 2008.

All the Web 2.o startups like minglebox,sirfdosti,bigadda and fropper have 15 lakh users together ,if overlaps are eliminated ,according to study by IDC India.
